A testing of dead ducks in a farm of Jiangmen city, Guangdong Province detected the deadly H5N1 bird flu virus, the Guangdong Department of Agriculture said on June 17.
A total of 3,873 ducks died and all live poultry in the duck farm were culled.
The province has taken emergency measures and the epidemic has been brought under control, agriculture official said.
A blanket check has been carried out around the duck farm, and no new case was found.
The provincial animal epidemic prevention and supervision institute has tested samples from poultry within 3 kilometers around the epidemic center, and 96 percent of them are up to immunity standard.
The province has issued an emergency notice, and the local governments have strengthened the efforts of bird flu prevention.
No new abnormal poultry death case is reported so far.
